words on a white sheet

can you remember it?
that fleeting intstant of your conscience.
you , calmly clinging to your scheme
reality was all there in your whisper.
and you shouted.

" she is wine made by souls of their people"

"For you, Beirut
Glory made by ash
Glory made by blood of a child
Whom you are holding
In the palm of your hand
Wounds of my people become flowers
Tears of mothers
Become flowers
And you Beirut are mine"

Li Beirut,
lyrics by Joseph Harb,
music by J.R. dal Concierto de Aranjuez
recorded by Radiodervish 2001 , Centro del Mundo

how long would you spend on a song?

"These mermaids danced
According to the melody of their dreams
The light of the sky seemed to be more brilliant
And the future seemed to be a feast full of hope"

to embroider,you say

ricamare, tu dici

è il mio modo di essere donna
stringere una cipolla cruda
nel palmo della mano
sentire col filo delle dita
l'orlo della tavola
i contorni della stanza
in cui sono chiusa da secoli
ricamo nella quiete della mia testa ariosa
i fili dei pensieri
e ne faccio delle foglie aguzze
dei fiori rotondi
filtro le idee attraverso
la tela di ragno
che mi avvolge il cervello
fino a che punto
la magia della sottomissione
l'incanto del silenzio
mi fanno forte e furiosa
fino a che punto mi fanno debole
ed esposta,
vogliamo ricamare insieme?

Dacia Maraini
Mangiami pure
Torino,Einaudi 1978

to embroider, you say

it's my way to be a woman
to grip a raw onion
inside the palm of my hand
to feel by the touch of my fingers
the edge of the table
the outline of the room
wherein i've been closed for centuries
I embroider in the quietness of my airy head
threads of thoughts
and make sharp leaves out of them
a few round flowers
I sift all the ideas
through the spider web
that wraps my brain
how far
do the enchantment of submission
the magic of silence
get me strong and furious
how far
do they get me weak and
how about embroidering together?

William Blake,
Songs of Experience A Divine Image
poesia non inclusa nella raccolta del 1794,
traduzione di A.Buccianti

Cruelty has a Human Heart
And Jealousy a Human Face
Terror, the Human Form Divine
And Secrecy, the Human Dress

The Human Dress, is forged Iron
The Human Form, a fiery Forge.
The Human Face, a Furnace seal’d
The Human Heart, its hungry Gorge.

La Crudeltà ha Cuore Umano
E Volto Umano la Gelosia
Il Terrore, l’Umana Forma Divina
E Veste Umana la Segretezza
La Veste Umana, è Ferro forgiato
La Forma Umana, un’incandescente Forgia.
Il Volto Umano, una Fornace sigillata
Il Cuore Umano, la sua Gola famelica.
