Dresden -Deutschland

The historic centre of the city on the River Elbe should be explored on foot - from the Zwinger and the Semper Opera House to the Royal Palace, which is under reconstruction, on to the Frauenkirche and to Brühl's Terrace, and to the town houses in the inner new city (Innere Neustadt).
After bad wartime destruction, Dresden has regained much of its original charm as a remarkable and attractive city.Modern architecture merges with the historical city centre.
The range of art and culture Dresden has in store for its visitors includes some of the world's greatest cultural achievements as well as the bustling, creative life in the urban districts, together with a fascinating "alternative scene".

France says NO Posted by Hello

The answer, my friend... Posted by Hello

France says no to Eu Contitution

France delivers its judgment, and Europe is plunged into crisis ·

French voters in overwhelming rejection of constitution·

This is said as the Second French Revolution as a good proportion of the French has voted 'no' because they believed the treaty did too little to guarantee the EU's 'European' character. They wanted a document that would be a more explicit defence of workers' rights than the one they had before them. They dismissed the advice of those, such as their president, who insisted, rightly, that in these respects the treaty was no different from the documents to which France - and the other EU members - were already bound.
"The one conclusion that cannot be drawn from this vote, however, is that France is disengaging from Europe. The active and vociferous debate conducted in all corners of the country as the referendum approached revealed a country riven with doubt about its own identity and about the future. But it also showed a nation profoundly engaged with Europe, in a way that perhaps no other member of the European Union is now, or has ever been. This makes the French result both more significant and, once everyone has got over the initial shock, more heartening. It means that Europe matters."

Umberto Saba: what is left to do for poets

Umberto Saba was born in Trieste in 1883 from Jewish mother. The father left the family and Umberto living among family conflicts and suffering from the absence of his father grew with a marked sense of melancholy and dissatisfaction.
The scholastic career is rather irregular , he abandons the grammar school and frequents only for a little time the Imperial Regal Academy of commerce and nautical, interrupting to get a job in a commercial firm. He finally embarks as a cabin-boy on a merchantman.
Saba is his pseudonym meaning bread in Jewish. In 1911 he married Lina and has a daughter.
After the first world war it opens a small antiquarian bookstore that will be the practical activity of all of his life and it will allow him to modestly live in Trieste and to devote himself to the poetic production. In 1921 he composes The Canzoniere and after a few years Preludes, Autobiography and The jails.
The racial laws force him to leave Italy and after a stay in Paris he returns to our country and lives hidden at some friends' in Florence and Rome. The 25 August of 1957 Umberto Saba dies at Gorizia.

The goat

The goat

I talked to a goat.
It was alone on the lawn, it was roped.
Replete with grass, wet
from the rain, she was bleating.

That same bleating was brotherly
to my pain.
And I responded, for jest at first ,
then because pain is eternal,
it has a voice and it doesn't vary.
This voice I 've heard
groaning in a solitary goat.

From a goat with a Semitic face
I've heard the moaning of every other pain
of every other life.

two's a crowd on my cloud, baby

Get Off Of My Cloud

I live in an apartment on the ninety-ninth floor
of my block
And I sit at home looking out the window
Imagining the world has stopped
Then in flies a guy who's all dressed up
like a Union Jack
And says, I've won five pounds

if I have his kind of detergent pack
I say, Hey! You! Get off of my cloud

Hey! You! Get off of my cloud
Hey! You! Get off of my cloud
Don't hang around 'cause two's a crowd
On my cloud, baby
The telephone is ringing

I say, "Hi, it's me. Who is there on the line?"
A voice says, "Hi, hello, how are you?"
Well, I guess I'm doin' fine
He says, "It's three a.m., there's too much noise
Don't you people ever wanna go to bed ?Just 'cause you feel so good, do you have
to drive me out of my head?"
I say, Hey! You! Get off of my cloud

Hey! You! Get off of my cloud
Hey! You! Get off of my cloud
Don't hang around 'cause two's a crowd
On my cloud, baby
I was sick and tired, fed up with this

And decided to take a drive downtown
It was so very queit and peaceful
There was nobody, not a soul around
I laid myself out, I was so tired
And I started to dream
In the morning the parking tickets were just
like a flag stuck on my window screen
I say, Hey! You! Get off of my cloud
Hey! You! Get off of my cloud
Hey! You! Get off of my cloud
Don't hang around 'cause two's a crowd
On my cloud, baby
I say, Hey! You! Get off of my cloud
Hey! You! Get off of my cloud
Hey! You! Get off of my cloud
Don't hang around 'cause two's a crowd

Faces circus

Follow my line
My face
A wave
reflected in the tide
taken to a shore
where there's a shell
my harbor.

The man
still behind my face
fears my shell
my own harbor
turns him mad
with the fear
the signals
in his blood
will not be sent anymore

The group was started in Bari in 1997 after the experience of Al Darawish. Their songs are meant as some small workshop wherein we find a way through western to eastern culture unveiling the symbols and the myths of all Mediterranean cultural existence. It's a borderland where processes are unified as much as separated. Hence we are presented with a sophisticated sound design where melody meets lyrics in Italian, Arabic, English ,French and Spanish rooted
in both the Arab tradition and western musical tradition.

The Face Of A Woman

I dwell in the face of a woman
who dwells in a wave
flung by the tide
to a shore that has lost it s harbor
in its shells.
I live in the face of a woman
who murders me,
who desires to be
a dead beacon
in my blood sailing
to the very end of madness.

Adonis- a Sirian poet
Translated by Kamal Abu-Deeb

it was so long time ago

it was 1995 when the Rolling Stones released their version of wonderful Dylan's song with Stripped cd.
check it out now and many more on this

like a rolling stone

Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you?
People'd call, say, "Beware doll, you're bound to fall"You thought they were all kiddin' you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hangin' out
Now you don't talk so loud
Now you don't seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal.
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknownLike a rolling stone?
You've gone to the finest school all right, Miss Lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it
And nobody has ever taught you how to live on the street
And now you find out you're gonna have to get used to it
You said you'd never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
He's not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And ask him do you want to make a deal? How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone? You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns
When they all come down and did tricks for you
You never understood that it ain't no good
You shouldn't let other people get your kicks for you
You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat
Ain't it hard when you discover that
He really wasn't where it's at
After he took from you everything he could steal. How does it fee
lHow does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?Princess on the steeple and all the pretty people
They're drinkin', thinkin' that they got it made
Exchanging all kinds of precious gifts and things
But you'd better lift your diamond ring, you'd better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him now, he calls you, you can't refuse
When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You're invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal. How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Do you know the warm progress under the stars? Do you know we exist? Have you forgotten the keys to the kingdom Have you been borne yet & are you alive? Let's reinvent the gods, all teh myths of the ages Celebrate symbols from deep elder forests [Have you forgotten the lessons of the ancient war] We need great golden copulations The fathers are cackling in trees of the forest Our mother is dead in the sea Do you know we are being led to slaughters by placid admirals & that fat slow generals are getting obscene on young blood Do you know we are ruled by T.V. The moon is dry blood beast Guerrilla bands are rolling numbers in the next block of green vine amassing for warfare on innocent herdsman who are just dying O great creator of being grant us one more hour to perform our art & perfect our lives The moths & atheists are doubly divine & dying We live, we die & death not ends it Journey we more into the Nightmare Cling to life Our passion'd flower Cling to Cunts & cocks of despair We got our final vision by clap Columbus groin got filled w/green death (I touched her thigh & death smiled) We have assembled inside this ancient & insane theatre To propagate our lust for life & flee the swarming wisdom of the streets The barns are stormed The windows kept & only one of all the rest To dance & save us W/the divine mockery of words Music inflames temperament (When the true King's murderers are allowed to roam free a 1000 Magicians arise in the land) Where are the feasts we are promised Where is the wine The New Wine (dying on the vine) resident mockery give us an hour for magic We of the purple glove We of the starling flight & velvet hour We of arabic pleasures's breed We of sundome & the night Give us a creed To believe A nightr of lust Give us trust in The Night Give of color hundred hues a rich mandala for me & for you & for your silky pillowed house a head, wisdom & a bed Troubled decree Resident mockery has claimed thee We used to believe in the good old days We still receive In little ways The things of Kindness & unsporting brow Forget & allow Did you know freedom exists in school books Did you know madmen are running our prisons w/in a jail, w/in a gaol w/in a white free protestant maelstrom We're perched headlong on the edge of boredom We're reaching for death on the end of a candle We're trying for something that's already found us Wow, I'm sick of doubt Live in the light of certain south Cruel bindings The sevants have the power dog-men & their mean women pulling poor blankets over our sailors I'm sick of dour faces Starong at me from the T.V. Tower, I want roses in my garden bower; dig? Royal babies, rubies must now replace aborted Strangers in the mud These mutants, blood-meal for the plant that's plowed they are waiting to take us into the severed garden Do you know how pale & wanton thrillful comes death on a stranger hour unannounced, unplanned for like a scaring over-friendly guest you've brought to bed Death makes angels of us all & gives us wings where we had shoulders smooth as raven's claws No more money, no more fancy dress This other kingdom seems by far the best until its other jaw reveals incest & loose obedience to a vegetable law I will not go Prefer a feast of friends To the Giant family

children for peace

No Peace with Guns
by Raneisha, age 11, East New York, NYC

I feel peaceful when I am sleeping in my bed
Because when you are in the real world
You could not be peaceful in some places.
When I am sleeping, I feel peaceful.

People are getting killed
Up in the real world with guns.
When I am dreaming I feel like

I am safe there in my bed.
For the world to be peaceful,
First they need to stop selling guns.
When I am dreaming I feel peaceful

Because I don’t like guns,
But in the real world I have to see
People get hurt up with guns.
When I am at my house, I am peaceful.

thank you Raneisha!

in search of...

i'm searching for a community dimension for my life, a symbolic place wherein values and ideas may grow on a ground layer made of respect for nature, children and humanity and of a high mutual sense of sharing.
pax in our hearts

tips for how to spend more quality time with your mother

Here are some tips for how to spend more quality time with your mother and a few small ways that you can let her know you love her, no matter how hectic your life becomes.

Give her a surprise phone call on your lunch break.

Take a childhood picture of you two together and have it framed.

Take her out for coffee.

Write a card describing all the ways in which she inspires you.

Cook her dinner every night for a week. (Think about all the dinners she cooked for you.)

Buy her something she would never buy for herself.

Think of one thing that your mother hates to do, then do it for her.

If she lives far away from you, make an effort to call or send notes regularly.

Sign her up for a cooking class or gym membership.

Think about your mother’s favourite hobby, then put together a basket of items that reflects her interest.

Beer and written music. Posted by Hello

today's star

jim douglas morrison wrote a thousand words on the life he was experiencing in California where he belonged. It was in the faboulous sixties that a complete search for both intellectual and moral freedom started out: cinema, poetry, and rock&roll became the preferred canals to experiment and pass along new ideas. and Jim and his band were among the loudest speakers of the movement.
thank you jim,ray,john and robby

The ceremony is about to begin

One morning he awoke in a green hotel
With a strange creature groaning beside him
Sweat oozed from its shiny skin
Is everybody in?
The ceremony is about to begin
Wake up!

You can't remember where it was
Had this dream stopped?
The snake was pale gold
Glazed and shrunken
We were afraid to touch it
The sheets were hot dead prisons
Now, run to the mirror in the bathroom
Look!I can't live thru each slow century of her moving
I let my cheek slide down
The cool smooth tile
Feel the good cold stinging blood
The smooth hissing snakes of rain . . .......

some kind of shakespearian delight

My Mistress's Eyes
My mistress's eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lip's red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun,
If hair be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damasked, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
In some perfumes there is more delight
Than the breath with which my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know,
that music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground.
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.
William Shakespeare, sonnet 130

children poetry
